SUNDAY 27th JULY
The attendance at our Annual General Meeting was fewer than the committee had hoped for, considering the important changes to the Rules that had to be voted upon. However we managed a quorum and both motions for revision to our Rules were carried unanimously. These revisions will now be referred to the Office of Fair Trading for approval before implementation.
The only nomination for committee members was for re-election of Laura Johns , as secretary. This was also carried unanimously.
Deputy Mayor Cr. Dolly Jensen addressed the meeting and praised the volunteer committee for the work they do at the hall. Cr. Jensen said that Curra hall was the most used hall in the Gympie Regional Council area.
Those attending enjoyed refreshments after the meeting.
SUNDAY 3rd AUGUST
WHAT A GREAT DAY!!
This was the biggest community event the hall has put on and the attendance was fantastic.
There was a wonderful range of locally crafted artisan stalls, all of whom reported having a very good day.
The ladies selling raffle tickets were busy non stop all day. Many prizes were donated by stall holders and local businesses. 23 prizes in all and the lucky winners all had big smiles when they chose their prize.
The free BBQ, devonshire tea and soft drinks were very popular. We served over 350 meals, over 350 drinks and more than 160 scones. A huge effort on the part of our volunteers who worked tirelessly all day. A big "thank you" to you all. We could not put on events like this without our volunteers.
Hope to see you at our next big event, some time next year. After we recover from this one!
THE CURRA COMMUNITY HALL RUNS ON VOLUNTEERS!
The committee and all the helpers at activities hosted by the hall are all volunteers. We couldn't survive without them.
Volunteering is a win/win situation. You feel good knowing that you are helping others and the people you help benefit from your kindness and support.
As Curra grows there are many new people out there looking for something to do. Are you one of them?
The Curra Hall Committee invite all Curra residents to do something good for themselves and others by joining our dedicated team of willing volunteers.
