WEDNESDAY 7TH MAY
The halls forum was a resounding success, due to the wonderful help we received from volunteers who came down and helped the committee to set up and also returned to serve the afternoon tea.
The hall looked great with table decorations made from local native flowers.
We hosted approximately 36 members from many Community Halls in the Gympie Region, as well as 4 Councillors and several Gympie Regional Council staff members.
The forum provided an opportunity for committee members to network, share ideas and there was a workshop session where those in attendance could discuss topics that were relevant to the successful operation of the many halls in the area.
Afternoon tea was a great hit and there was plenty for all.
A big THANK YOU to the volunteers and community members who helped make this a very successful event.
Well Curra, pat yourselves on the back, because your response to our request to "Donate a Plate" was OUTSTANDING.
As you can see from the photo above, there was lots of lovely food and it was all thanks to you.
The people attending the hall forum were very impressed, especially when I explained that it was all donated by the Curra Community.
A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL FROM THE HALL COMMITTEE.
Our aim at the hall is to build community in Curra and your response shows that community is alive and well.
THANK YOU also to those who came down to help set up the hall, prepare and serve the food AND who stayed to help clean up. That's the hardest thing, when all you want to do is go home.
A wonderful day.
If you are wondering what happened to all the beautiful food left over, it didn't go to waste. It was donated ito a local organisation that works with families in need.
THE CURRA COMMUNITY HALL RUNS ON VOLUNTEERS!
The committee and all the helpers at activities hosted by the hall are all volunteers. We couldn't survive without them.
Volunteering is a win/win situation. You feel good knowing that you are helping others and the people you help benefit from your kindness and support.
As Curra grows there are many new people out there looking for something to do. Are you one of them?
The Curra Hall Committee invite all Curra residents to do something good for themselves and others by joining our dedicated team of willing volunteers.
Ways you can contribute -

Donna's garden which we visited in May is new, only 3 years in the making and of the more conventional style of lawns, roses and beautiful hibiscus. There are also lots of feeding stations to encourage the native bird population.
We are a friendly casual group and welcome new people with an interest in plants and gardens.
Contact Susie Nau to let her know you are coming, or just roll up! We would love to see you. Bring a chair, a plate to share and a plant to swap.
